Preamble
In a world where technology is central in our everyday lives, it is necessary for educators to be aware of what skills to teach in the classroom, what tools are available, and how best to use these tools. We recognize the role of technology in addressing different learning styles within learning environments.
We should also maximize the use of technology in making connections among us and in providing effective communication. Visual communication and media literacy are essential in our era.
Recommendations
WCCI should advocate for:
- Equalizing access to technology.
- Supporting the learning of visual communication skills and media literacy.
- Creating materials in multiple languages in order to be accessible for educators worldwide.
- Using technology for providing alternative means of participating in WCCI World Conferences.
- Publishing an online journal accessible for WCCI members.
Recommendations
The special interest group of Media and Technology will work on the following projects:
- Create a Facebook Group in order to promote continuing communication among members.
- Balazs Klein - C
- Promote WCCI through 2-minute videos on Facebook.
- Monitor and check on the progress of the Facebook Project. Results will be presented in WCCI 2012 Taiwan.
- Assist WCCI in planning for alternative means of participation during conferences, e.g. web conferencing.
- Share opportunities for academic publishing online. This may be done through Facebook.
