Preamble
Education is

For all- regardless of race, social class, age, creed or religion.

For girls, boys, women and men.

To educate mankind to live together, for one another.

Educate a woman is to educate her family and community.

Empowerment of women is educating women.

Also involves educating men.

On issues regarding gender equality, social structures, families etc.
Recommendations
  • Increase consciousness of educating men and women on gender equity and empowerment; to be included in the learning outcomes of the curriculum.
  • Educators select women role models with their stories, in their respective communities as focus of study or sources of inspiration for the younger generation.
  • Analysis of research in women studies be used for policy making on gender equity, social justice, and women empowerment for all including the aborigines of each country.
Resolutions
  • The dimensions of women studies be expanded from “Women in Education” to “Women And Education”, including women educating men, and other perspectives on equity empowerment.
  • Redefine gender-role differentiation and women empowerment in the light of contemporary social and economic realities of a globalized society.
  • Require the dimensions of gender studies, gender equity and sensitivities be components of the K-16 educational curriculum.
